JUNIOR NATIONAL WRESTLING

Alex Marchetti, a Wyoming Seminary student from Waverly Township, delivered a dominant performance at the U.S. Marine Corps Junior Nationals in Fargo, North Dakota, capturing the 132-pound title and earning the tournament's prestigious Outstanding Wrestler award.

Marchetti capped off an undefeated 8-0 run through the bracket by defeating fellow Pennsylvanian C.J. Caines 5-1 in the championship match. His path to the finals included technical falls in five of his bouts, showcasing his elite level of control and scoring ability on the mat.

The standout wrestler was joined at the national tournament by rising Abington Heights sophomore Lucas Drake, with both local athletes helping propel Pennsylvania to a historic team victory in the 16U Freestyle division.

Pennsylvania's state squad dominated the competition by accumulating 352 points, comfortably surpassing second-place Iowa by 95 points and shattering the previous tournament team scoring record set five years prior.

The team's overwhelming success also featured 28 All-American finishes, rewriting the national record books for top-eight placements and solidifying the region's powerhouse status in youth and high school wrestling.
