Longtime leader of MSU College of Business retiring

David Meinert, the longtime dean of Missouri State University's College of Business, has announced that he will step down and retire at the conclusion of the fall semester [1.1].

Over a 37-year tenure at the institution, Meinert has helped shape the trajectory of the business program, spending a decade as associate dean before moving into the interim and permanent dean roles in 2018.

MSU Provost Clarenda Phillips praised his tenure, describing him in a statement as an extraordinary champion for student success who heavily prioritized experiential learning and vital industry partnerships.

During his time guiding the college, the program expanded significantly to become the university's largest by major, maintaining a high job placement rate and fostering robust connections with regional employers.

University officials noted that a national search to find Meinert's successor will be formally launched in the coming weeks.
