Mohave County seeks state investigation into airport authority’s $700,000 loan

KINGMAN — Mohave County supervisors have formally requested that both the county attorney and the Arizona Attorney General’s Office launch an investigation into the Mohave County Airport Authority.

The inquiry centers on whether the airport authority acted in violation of state law when it secured a $700,000 loan earmarked for fuel farm improvements.

The decision by the board of supervisors reflects growing local government scrutiny regarding the financial transactions and operational independence of the authority.

At issue is the legality and procedural propriety of the substantial borrowing, which was undertaken without what some officials argue was the necessary oversight or statutory compliance.

State and local prosecutors will now determine whether the transaction warrants further legal action or formal enforcement proceedings against the entity.

Neither the Mohave County Attorney’s Office nor the Arizona Attorney General’s Office has yet detailed a timeline for reviewing the board's request, as local leaders await clarity on the airport authority's financial dealings.
