A suspected vandal was found dead under a collapsed high-voltage transmission tower in Delta State, according to an announcement by the Transmission Company of Nigeria [1.1].
The utility firm stated that its linesmen discovered the fatality on Saturday during an intensive patrol along the 330 KiloVolt Ughelli-Benin transmission line.
According to the company, maintenance personnel from the Delta Sub-Region initiated the inspection after the line tripped due to an earth fault.
The patrol team traced the disturbance to Tower 101, which had collapsed, revealing the body of the individual crushed beneath the metal structure.
Further checks by technical crews showed that an adjacent tower on the Ughelli-Sapele 330kV line had also been heavily targeted, though it remained standing.
TCN strongly condemned the destruction of critical power assets and urged members of the public and host communities to increase their vigilance.
Emphasizing that tampering with electricity infrastructure poses severe safety hazards, the company called on citizens to report suspicious activities to local security agencies.
